- CHRISTMAS
- How does France celebrate Christmas The first Christmas in France was in the 14th century. In France there is more figures in the nativity scenes. Only the adults go out for mid-night mass . When they go home they have a special meal. The meal varies depending which part of France you are in.
- Let It Snow Classic Christmas song by Dean Martin
- The history of the celebration of Christmas from the birth of Jesus to present day The birth of Jesus is very important . It slowly evolved into Christmas some years later. We celebrate Christmas now by the exchange of gifts and setting up the Christmas tree.
- The exchange of Gifts We have many recorded events in history that show the giving and receiving of gifts dates back at least to the 4th century. St. Nicholas, a Christian Bishop, was known for his generosity in giving to those less fortunate than he, as well as giving to children of all backgrounds simply because he felt they needed to savor their childhood, and have joyous times to remember (contrary to the beliefs of that time, which would suggest that boys even as young as 8 be sent to work to help earn income for their families and girls as young as 5 to help their mothers with the housework and meal preparation).
- Exchange of Gifts (continued) The most common gift given were homemade foods and sweets, oranges (this was a huge treat due to the fact they were very rare), handcrafted gifts such as socks, sweaters, dresses, nightgowns, blankets, tables, chairs, and other handmade useful items.
- The exchange of gifts (continued) This tradition began with St. Nicholas in Turkey. It moved throughout the world very quickly, and before the 10th century is supposed that nearly every country was participating in this exchange.
- How does Russia celebrate Christmas Thirteen days after Western Christmas, on January 7th, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates its Christmas, in accordance with the old Julian calendar. It's a day of both solemn ritual and joyous celebration
- Santa Claus Some people celebrate Christmas because the birth of Jesus Christ and on the other hand people celebrate Christmas because of Santa Claus. Many children are taught that the old man who carries a sack full of toys goes around houses giving gifts and enters the house through the chimney. The children like to put a face to Christmas and they see Santa Claus.
- Santa's job Santa brings presents to good Christian children on Christmas Eve. The kids wake up in the morning and there are tons of presents from him under the tree and in their stockings hanging on the fireplace. Naughty children receive coal in their stocking or a rotten apple.
- Christmas Cards The custom of sending Christmas cards started in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole. He was a civil servant (government worker) who was very interested in the new public post office and wondered how It could be used more by ordinary people.
- How we started Christmas Christmas is celebrated every year in the month of December on the 25th day. Many people do not know when and how Christmas started. There are people who do not know religious reasons that people celebrate Christmas.
- What Christmas means The word "Christmas" occurs nowhere in the Bible. It is an old English word that means "Christ's Mass" which refers to the celebration of the Lord's Supper.
- When the Christmas tree started the origin of the Christmas tree isn't exactly clear, but it's probably rooted in ancient times, and probably connected to religious rituals. Many ancient cultures revered evergreen trees, which stayed green in the winter while other trees were bare. The evergreens served as a reminder that winter would pass, and the land would once again be fruitful.
- Why do we put up Christmas trees Since before Christmas existed, people used plants that stay green all year to decorate their homes in the winter. Hanging evergreen boughs over a door was a reminder of springtime during the cold, dark winter. .
- Why do we put up Christmas trees (continued) But it wasn't until the 16th century in Germany that Christians started using trees as decorations around Christmas. German settlers in Pennsylvania brought the first Christmas trees to America in the late 1700s, but they weren't common until after 1834. That's when Prince Albert, the German husband of Britain's Queen Victoria, first brought a Christmas tree to Windsor Castle

Birth of Jesus
It was the my Favorite and Best ever told Story form my Child hood,As my Aunt used to tell me when i am a kid .
The Annunciation
Long long ago in a city called Galilee ,There lived a Woman called Mary, She is married to Joseph , Who were descendants of king David ,Both Mary and Joseph has Good Faith in God, one day while Mary is Praying to God, Suddenly an Angel of god Gabriel appeared , Gabriel exclaimed
“ Hail oh Blessed one Dont be afraid ,You shall be conceived by the power of holy spirit,And Give birth to a Boy,He shall be called Jesus”
Mary was puzzled and dont know what to say, She kept hopeinn lord and Said
“I am the Lord's servant; let it be as you say."
Mary's husband Joseph, doubts her pregnancy then Gabriel reappears in Josephs dream and tells him that Mary is Conceived by the power of holy Sprit.
Journey to Bethlehem
It was the time of census during King Caesar Augustus rule, that all the citizens of Nazareth have to travel all the way to Bethlehem to register for Census, Mary and her husband Joseph, lived in a town called Nazareth. . Both Nazareth and Bethlehem are in the country now called Israel. It is about 65 miles (105 km) from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and the trip probably took them several days.
When Joseph and Mary got to Bethlehem, all the inns were almost full, there was no place for them to stay ,The Hotel keeper agreed to provide Shelter in a stable, a place where animals were kept. Joseph arranged the hay and made a Bed for Mary and in that Stable That night, Jesus was born.
The Shining Star
A Star shone in the Sky , It was Prophesized that a Star will Shine when King of the World will be born, So some noble man Started Journey following the Star to visit the New Born King.
Shepherds Visit Jesus
In the Fields near Bethlehem there were few Sheppard's who were spending their night by the side of a Camp fire,Letting their Sheep to Graze , And suddenly they heard Strange Songs
Hark the herald the Angles Sing “ Glory to the God in the highest, Peace on earth , Goodwill toward men!"
Angle of the lord appeared to them,They got Afraid
”Angel told that Savior(Messiah) is Born in Bethlehem go and adore him”
Jesus was laid to sleep in a manger. The shepherds were the first one to came and see Jesus, They adored Baby Jesus by gifting the finest cattle they have.
Wise Men Visit Jesus
Wise men from the East came to worship Jesus, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Some time later, wise men, or magi, from eastern countries saw a star in the sky that signaled the birth of a new king. They came to Judea, the region around Jerusalem and Bethlehem, to worship Jesus, the new king.
A man named Herod was the king of Judea. He called the wise men to a meeting and told them to find the new king so he could go and worship him, too.
The wise men continued on to Bethlehem and followed the star until it was directly above the house where Jesus was. They found Mary and Jesus in the house and knelt down to worship Him. They brought Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, some of the finest things in the ancient world. Frankincense was burned to make a sweet smell, and myrrh was an expensive perfume.
After visiting Jesus, the wise men had a dream that warned them not to go back to King Herod, so they took a different route home.
Flee to Egypt
King Herod lied when he told the wise men he wanted to worship Jesus. He was afraid this new "king" would replace him as king of Judea. He did not understand that Jesus would grow up to be king of God's spiritual kingdom, not king of Judea.
What Herod really wanted was to find Jesus and kill Him! Herod was furious when he realized the wise men had not come back to tell him where to find Jesus. He sent his soldiers to Bethlehem to kill all the children under two years old, thinking Jesus would certainly be one of the ones killed.
But God had told Joseph in a dream to flee to Egypt. Joseph took Mary and Jesus to live in Egypt where they would be safe from Herod. Joseph, Mary and Jesus stayed in Egypt until Herod had died, and then they returned to Nazareth.
